Common Questions

What does acupuncture treat?

The World Health Organization has shown acupuncture to be an effective treatment method in over 100 conditions.  This is just a small sample.  It is more important to know that acupuncture facilitates the body’s own incredible healing ability and helps any condition to some degree.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Sometimes there is a slight sensation immediately upon needles insertion which goes away very quickly.  Most people feel no pain at all and often fall asleep.  Many people say that “Acunaps” are the best sleep they get.

Is Acupuncture Safe?

Absolutely. When performed by a licensed acupuncturist.  All licensed acupuncturists have extensive training – at least 4 years, and must pass national board exams.  We only use sterile, single use only needles.

How Many Treatments will I need?

That depends on you and the nature of the condition being treatedGenerally, acute conditions respond best to frequent treatments in a short amount of time such as 2 per week for 3 weeks.  Chronic conditions may require 1-4 treatments per month for several months.  Your acupuncturist will suggest a treatment plan on your first visit.

How Long does each treatment take?

We recommend that you keep the needles in for at least 20 minutes and you can stay up to an hour after your treatment start time.
